Game day notes
- Multi-park game day: We have games at two different parks. Please be sure to check team assignments below for your daughter’s field location.
- Uniforms: Players should wear the uniform colors listed below, but also bring their other uniform shirts and shorts in case of a color mix-up, a need to switch players between teams, or other unusual circumstances.
- Guest coach: We have two 9:00 games at different venues, and only one available Junior Academy coach. So we recruited coach Ashley (head coach of the U11 Girls Academy) to coach NASA team Brian in their game against UFA-Norcross.
- Hydration: Hot weather is here, so it’s time for a reminder about hydration. Link: hydration tips
- Weekly quiz: We post a quiz each week below the team assignments. Scroll past the roster table for quiz details.
- Warm-up captains: Girls whose names are in italic print with a (C) indicator are warm-up captains. They are responsible for gathering their teammates and starting pre-game warm-up. Link: warm-up ideas
Saturday, May 14 team assignments and schedules
Several players get the day off: We have a smaller than usual schedule because the rec season has ended. We originally only had one game scheduled, but two make-up games were recently added.
With the NASA Family Fun Day event taking place at MNP on the 14th, we weren’t able to reserve a MNP field for an extra intra-Academy game. So only 2/3 of our girls will play today. We assigned roster spots for the make-up games to the girls who have played the fewest overall games this spring. Girls who get the day off are either those with schedule conflicts or those with high spring game counts.
There will likely be pick-up games as part of the Family Fun Day event, so girls who aren’t scheduled to play may still get to play informal games at MNP.

Weekly quiz – twist-off turns
You can earn a treat if you can pass a test about twist-off turns. You’ll need to answer the following questions, plus demonstrate proper twist-off turn technique.
- Is the twist-off turn more of a possession move (a way to keep the ball), or a move to get behind a defender (a way to go to goal)?
- What makes a twist-off turn work?
- Where on the field would you use a twist-off turn?
- Which foot should you use?
- How many right turns does it take to go left?
