Game Day: Saturday, September 10, 2016

Game day notes

  • Where is Quest field 6E?  Quest Park field 6 is where we had tryouts. It’s to the front right of the blue clubhouse. Field 6 will be subdivided into five small-sided fields. We’re not yet sure which one will be labeled field 6E, so just look for Ward when you get there.
  • About game days:  Our first game day is a new step in our soccer journey. We ask that parents and their daughters spend 10 minutes together learning about what happens on game days, along with understanding player and parent responsibilities and guidelines. Links:  what to expect on game day #1 / general game day procedures and guidelines
  • Uniforms:  Players should wear the uniform colors listed below, but also bring their other uniform shirts and shorts in case of a color mix-up or other unusual circumstances.
  • Hydration:  It’s likely to be hot Saturday, so it’s time for a reminder about hydration. Link:  hydration tips
  • Weekly quiz:  We post a quiz each week below the team assignments. Scroll past the roster table for quiz details.
  • Warm-up captains:  Girls whose names are in italic print with a (C) indicator are warm-up captains. They are responsible for gathering their teammates and helping the coach start pre-game warm-up. Link:  warm-up ideas

Weekly quiz – team names

Girls can win a treat after our Wednesday or Thursday practice if they answer questions about our team names. Teams are named after the new generation of US Women’s Nation Team players.

Team names:

Identify the first and last name of the each player, and identify her NWSL team. Bonus question: One of these four players played in the United Quest Academy program back in 2002-2004 (before we became NASA) — which player? Hint:  Each team name is linked to more detailed player info.
