Game Day: Saturday, March 10, 2018

Game day notes

  • Weather:  The latest forecast calls for us to stay dry, with light rain starting after our last game. If rain starts earlier, we’ll still play due to mild temperatures, no lightning, and quick-draining fake grass. Link:  bad weather notification procedures
  • Uniforms:  Players should wear their gold uniforms. We’ll use practice vests to distinguish teams. This allows us to easily move players around if needed to keep competitive balance.
  • Hydration:  Hydrated players are more likely to perform well throughout the game. Link:  hydration tips
  • Weekly quiz:  We post a quiz each week below the team assignments. Scroll past the roster table for quiz details.
  • Warm-up captains:  Girls whose names are in bold print with a (C) indicator are warm-up captains. They are responsible for gathering their teammates and helping the coach start pre-game warm-up. Link:  warm-up ideas

Weekly quiz – “scan, plan, play”

During the fall season, our three key words were “keep the ball”. We will still emphasize keeping the ball. But the girls are back for a 2nd season, so we’re adding another set of three key words for the spring season:  “scan, plan, play”.

Girls can win a treat after our Wednesday or Thursday practice if they can describe what “scan, plan, play” means to them, and also name the body parts that relate to each of the three words.

  • Which body part do you use to scan?
  • Which body part do you use to plan?
  • Which body part do you use to play?
