Georgia Soccer and NASA Tophat are sponsoring a “meet Emily Sonnett” fund-raiser for the TOPSoccer program.
The event takes place Saturday, February 25th, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Walton High School in Marietta.
Update 1: Due to Emily’s call-up to the US Women’s National Team training camp, the event will be pushed back. (Still no reschedule date as of mid-April.)
Update 2: The event was not able to be rescheduled.
TOPSoccer is The Outreach Program for Soccer. It provides playing opportunities for kids of all ages who have physical or mental disabilities. If you’ve ever been at Metro North on a Sunday afternoon, you may have seen the TOPSoccer program in action on the “TOPS” turf field.
Players who raise at least $200 in donations get to attend the event, which includes a soccer clinic with Emily Sonnett. Emily is in the back right in the upper left photo (from Nov. 2016), and back row center in the upper right photo (taken in 2004 during her U10 days). Additional perks are available for players who raise higher donation levels.
Emily joined United Quest (which became NASA) as a U9 player, and was part of the G12 Elite II team which won the US Youth Soccer U19 national championship in 2013. Emily went on to star at the University of Virginia before becoming 1st overall draft choice in last year’s NWSL draft. She plays professionally for the Portland Thorns, and is also currently part of the US Women’s National Team.
We encourage all the girls and their families to check out this special opportunity! Links:
