July 2021: All NTH Academy and Select players should have received an e-mail from NTH regarding new registration tasks.
Disclaimer: The author of this page is just a coach, and doesn’t have any involvement in the various NTH registration systems. This is a non-expert attempt to add a bit of clarity to the changes. Refer to the NTH e-mail for details about how you access and interact with the new registration tasks.
Registration background — the old way:
- Players tryout for various Academy and Select programs. If accepted, their parent or guardian registers them as an NTH player. The NTH registrar confirms the registration. Everyone went through this task in June after tryouts. The system used is known as Sports Connect or Blue Sombrero.
- After players are registered for NTH, the NTH registrar has additional tasks. She registers each NTH player / team with our sanctioning body, US Youth Soccer. The parent / guardian isn’t involved in this process. The system used is known as Affinity.
- The Affinity system feeds player / team info to the Georgia State Soccer Association, also called GSSA. The parent / guardian isn’t involved in this process.
- GSSA feeds player / team info to US Youth Soccer (our sanctioning body). The parent / guardian isn’t involved in this process.
- The coach / team manager handles the uploading of player photos and other required paperwork, also using the Affinity system.
Registration background — the new way:
Starting July 2021, our sanctioning body has changed from US Youth Soccer to US Club Soccer. This doesn’t have much effect on the actual soccer part, but it changes the registration process.
- No changes from what’s listed above. (Players are still players, and NTH is still NTH.) Parents still have an NTH account (using the Sports Connect / Blue Sombrero system) for club fees.
- Changes! What used to be a registrar-centered task (loading player / team info in the Affinity system) now becomes a parent / guardian task. Parents / guardians create an account in a system called GotSport. Parents / guardians upload their players’ photos, proof of age, and liability / waiver forms. (See the NTH e-mail for a list of upload requirements and how to access them.)
- GotSport feeds player / team info directly to US Club Soccer. (GSSA and US Youth Soccer are no longer part of the chain.)
The major difference between old and new:
- The old way: The NTH registrar entered thousands of players’ data into Affinity.
- The new way: Thousands of parents / guardians enter their own player’s data into GotSport.
