Here’s a list of news topics from a July 30 group e-mail.

Team camp starts Monday, August 6th!
We kick-off the fall 2018 season with our Junior Academy Team Camp starting Monday, August 6th at United Quest Park (UQP). Check our team camp link for full details, including daily schedules (we have camp sessions at both UQP and MNP), registration info, camp checklist, hydration and foot care tips: www.nasaacademygirls.org/schedules/academy-camp-2018/.
Camp schedule:
We’ll have camp check-in Monday between 5:00 – 5:15 PM. We’ll meet at UQP field 7. Check-in will include a quick inspection to check each player’s water and ball. (We’ll have pumps available if a player’s ball needs more air.) Camp finishes at 7:00 PM each night.
We’ll do skill-building activities and individual or small-group competitions early on, with scrimmages at the end. If your schedule permits, you’re welcome to stay and watch, or you can leave after check-in and come back around 6:30 / 6:45 to watch the scrimmages.
Weather info:
Junior Academy Team Camp is normally a “rain or shine” event. If we get lightning or driving rain, we’ll take shelter until the storm passes. If we have one of those days when it’s storming in the afternoon and the forecast calls for more of the same throughout the evening, check our Junior Academy Twitter account or phone hot-line (listed at the bottom of this message in the signature area) for any updates.
Cold treats?
When camp ends each night, everyone is usually hot and tired. A cure for that is cold treats! If you’re available to bring popsicles or some other cold treats after camp one evening, please e-mail Ward, and include which day(s) works best. We’ll follow-up individually Sunday with a treat schedule and head count.
Roster (draft)
We e-mailed everyone a first draft Junior Academy roster. Info comes from tryout registration and responses to our follow-up e-mail invitations.
If any of your daughter’s info is missing or incorrect, please e-mail Ward the corrections. We’ll send an updated roster in late August. We won’t post detailed roster data on our web site; we’ll only share with current members via e-mail.
Orientation meetings
We get a yellow card for the execution of our summer orientation meeting plans. Changing the timetable from “after tryouts” to “before camp” brought a set of obstacles we didn’t anticipate. Live and learn!
We’ll have orientation meetings in early August, one at each park. More details here: www.nasaacademygirls.org/schedules/2018-orientation/.
Fall practice schedule is posted
We received our fall practice schedule late last week. Details are posted here: www.nasaacademygirls.org/schedules/2018-fall-practice/.
Communication channels
Our Junior Academy web site is our main outbound communication channel. Now that we’re getting into our season, we encourage you to check it twice a week. We’ll use our Twitter account and phone hot line for late schedule changes (usually weather-related).
We’ll send occasional group e-mails, but typically only for polls or major news. The best way to stay current is to check our web site. More about communication channels here: www.nasaacademygirls.org/misc/jag-contacts/.
