Who wants to be a ruler? You? Great, it’s time for a new home assignment! Many of these activities only need a small amount of space. Some can be done indoor if needed. These items come from our playing at home catalog.
Assignment #2 (posted 3/19/2018)
Skills: basic “escape” dribbling moves — twist-off turns and V-pulls. If you’ve been working on your figure-8 dribbling, you already have a jump on twist-off turns.
These moves allow you to find or create open space away from pressure so you can keep the ball. And if you can keep the ball, you are on your way to being a ruler!
You can click on the twist-off turns and V-pulls links for full descriptions, or look below for video demos.
Fun games: If you get bored working by yourself, play a partner game with your mom, dad, sister, brother or friend. Games such as Texas Draw, snow cones, dribbling marbles, wrist girl. These games give you a chance to use twist-off turns or V-pulls to escape from pressure or quickly turn.
“Twist-off turns and V-pulls aren’t easy, but if they were easy, anyone could do them! Be patient, believe in yourself, and with practice, you can become a ruler!
I won’t be able to help you, but my uncle Cecil might be hiding in the trees cheering for you.”
Challenges
- If you practice enough, maybe you can beat a coach in snow cones!
- Can you combine different V-pulls like in the “V-pull combinations: 8 variations” video below?
