We think the girls are ready for a new challenge! We’ll give them a home challenge every couple of weeks, where we ask them to practice 1-2 skills on their own for 5-10 minutes a few times each week. We also include fun games that give the girls a chance to use the related skills in a competition.
Many of these activities only need a small amount of space. Some can be done indoor if needed. These items come from our playing at home catalog.
Challenge #1 (posted 9/16/2017)
- Figure-8 dribbling. This activity helps you develop ball control and the ability to keep the ball close to you while twisting and turning. You’ll also learn how to glance around as you dribble, occasionally looking down at the ball, while occasionally looking up to make sure you stay on course. Once you get the hang of figure-8 dribbling, you’re already on the way to becoming good at twist-off turns.
- Fun games: dribbling marbles, wrist girl, snow cones. These games give you a chance to use the twists and turns you develop through figure-8 dribbling. We encourage the girls to challenge mom, dad, siblings or friends in any of these games.
