This challenge includes juggling with the inside, laces and outside of each foot. Players can work to a certain level during one practice session, and resume at that same level the next practice without having to start over with level 1.
Each level starts with the player holding the ball, and finishes with the player catching the ball, with no bounces.
Some levels only require a single touch and a catch. Those levels require the touch to be head high or higher. This ensures that the player actually strikes the ball, instead of just letting the ball hit her foot.
Many levels require a combination of touches. There aren’t any height requirements for those levels.
Individual levels:
- Level 1: inside of the right foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 2: inside of the left foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 3: inside of the right foot / inside of the left foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 4: inside of the left foot / inside of the right foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 5: laces of the right foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 6: laces of the left foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 7: laces of the right foot / laces of the left foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 8: laces of the left foot / laces of the right foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 9: outside of the right foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 10: outside of the left foot (head high or higher) / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 11: outside of the right foot / outside of the left foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 12: outside of the left foot / outside of the right foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 13: combination of surfaces: inside of the right foot / laces of the right foot / outside of the right foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 14: combination of surfaces: inside of the left foot / laces of the left foot / outside of the left foot / catch / repeat 3 times
- Level 15: combine level 13 & level 14 (6 consecutive touches starting with the inside of the right foot) / repeat 3 times
- Level 16: combine level 14 & level 13 (6 consecutive touches starting with the inside of the left foot) / repeat 3 times
Keys to success:
- Stay balanced. Drop the ball to your foot rather than tossing it into the air, and put your foot back on the ground after each touch.
- Each touch needs to setup either a catch or another touch. Play the ball in a specific direction and height to make the catch or next touch easier.
Want a bigger challenge?
- Start with the ball on the ground, and do a ball pickup with your feet before starting each level.
- Try doubles (or triples). For example, instead of the basic level 3 (inside of the right foot / inside of the left foot / catch), do two (or three) inside of the right foot touches / two (or three) inside of the left foot touches / and then catch.
Why juggle?
- It helps with ball feeling (also called “touch”).
- It helps with coordination and balance.
- It’s a fun challenge that doesn’t require teammates or a lot of space.
Good luck!
