Cookie cake!

We finished the fall 2015 season in style with a Dutch Masters style mini-tournament (random team assignments, with players earning points based on each game result), topped off with tasty (and beautiful) cookie cake!

Eva earned the first bite

Eva accumulated the most points and won the honor of cutting the first piece of cake. Link: more photos and videos

Thank yous!

  • Coaches thank all the girls for their effort and enthusiasm this season! We also thank the parents (and grandparents too) for their positive support.

Good job girls!

  • The girls made huge strides with their ball skills. Early on, a portion of the girls wanted the ball, many froze with the ball, some wanted to get rid of it right away as if the ball was toxic waste, and some dribbled straight into the nearest opponent (or teammate). Now most girls want the ball, and are creative with it. They dribble to find space and keep possession using twists and turns, or dribble to beat a defender and go to goal.

Goals for the spring

  • Improve dribbling technique, mainly changes of direction and changes of speed. Learn when / where to use dribbling moves. (Most girls have an arsenal of moves, but don’t yet know when / where to use them.) Improve ball striking (passing and shooting) and receiving. Improve positional sense, mainly spacing. And remember to always combine learning with fun!
