What a game day! It was a Mothers Day special, complete with formal pre-game team walkouts to salute the moms. The girls gave the moms and the other spectators a very entertaining game day!
Our girls played very well overall, and all three games were competitive. The girls played with lots of skill and desire. This was our best display of the season of keeping the ball by either dribbling with skill or passing the ball and sharing it with teammates. We scored some beautiful goals! And we also showed good anticipation skills.
Our soccer brains were in gear most of the day, but mental fatigue hit late in games 1 and 3 and we gave away some soft goals. We don’t measure scores and standings, but we hope the girls are learning that the difference between winning and losing is often very thin and is sometimes due to poor decisions near our own goal or lack of concentration when the other team has the ball.
We finish our spring season next weekend with the NTH Adidas Cup (May 20-21). We wish the best to all the girls — if you play like you did today, you’ll do very well!
