The girls had a lot of success in the 2019 NTH Adidas Cup tournament! Three of our four teams advanced to the championship round, while the one team that didn’t advance still won two of their three games.

NTH ’12 North team Brian (U8 Rec division, group B):
Saturday:
Team Brian (our youngest players) won both games, mixing individual skills with smooth teamwork. They are currently in 1st place in the U8 rec division “B” bracket.
Sunday:
Team Brian won their morning game and advanced to their division’s championship. They lost the final to a team who played a packed defense and finished the tournament as silver medalists. We thank guest coaches Megan, Bethany and Madison for their help!
NTH ’11 North team Campbell (U8 Elite division, group A):
Saturday:
Team Campbell won a tight game 1, and then followed with a big win in game 2. They are currently in 1st place in their bracket. Team Campbell has already accumulated enough points to advance to the final regardless of the result of their Sunday morning game. Congratulations girls!
Sunday:
Team Campbell won their morning game and advanced to their division’s championship. Team Campbell continued their good play and their high scoring offense, winning 6-4 to finish as gold medal champions.
NTH ’11 North team O’Hara (U8 Elite division, group B):
Saturday:
Team O’Hara kept clean sheets while posting wins in both Saturday games. They are currently in 1st place in their bracket. Team O’Hara will advance to the championship with either a win or a tie in their Sunday morning game. A loss would eliminate them.
Sunday:
Team O’Hara lost their morning game and were knocked out. Overall they won twice and only lost once. You girls played well this weekend!
NTH ’11 North team Sonnett (U9 Royal division):
Saturday:
Team Sonnett lost their first game to a strong NTH Buckhead team, who showed excellent quick attacking team play. Team Sonnett started slowly in their second game, but caught fire and overcame all sorts of obstacles in pulling off a thrilling 4-3 comeback win. Team Sonnett is currently tied for 2nd place in their division and will advance to the championship match with a win in their Sunday 1 PM game. Pending other results, team Sonnett could still advance with a tie or a loss.
Sunday:
Team Sonnett advanced to the championship round with a 3-1 win against a U9 team. The final was a rematch against the NTH Buckhead team they played in game 1. Team Sonnett showed much improvement since game 1, and lost a tight 3-2 game when the Buckhead girls blocked a potentially game tying shot in the final seconds of the game.
