Weather alert! The Saturday AM game day forecast (as of Friday afternoon) calls for a 35-40% chance of thunderstorms. Check our Junior Academy Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/nasajracadg) Saturday morning for an update before you head to the field.
Game day notes:
- About game days: Our first game day is a new step in our soccer journey. We ask that parents and their daughters spend 10 minutes together learning about what happens on game days, along with understanding player and parent responsibilities and guidelines. Links: what to expect on game day #1 / general game day procedures and guidelines
- Teams: We’ll split each group into two teams after warm-ups. We’ll use practice vests to distinguish teams. This allows us to easily move players around if needed to keep competitive balance.
- Uniforms: Players should wear their blue uniforms, and also bring their new pink practice vests.
- Uniform not yet delivered? Your daughter should wear practice gear with her gray NTH practice shirt, or a navy blue or dark shirt.
- Bring pink practice vests: Girls should bring their new pink practice vests.
- Hydration: It’s likely to be hot Saturday, so it’s time for a reminder about hydration. Link: hydration tips
- Weekly quiz: We post a quiz each week below the team assignments. Scroll past the roster table for quiz details.
- Warm-up captains: Girls whose names are in bold print with a (C) indicator are warm-up captains. They are responsible for gathering their teammates and helping the coach start pre-game warm-up. Link: warm-up ideas

Weekly quiz – team names:
Girls can win a treat after our Wednesday or Thursday practice if they can answer a question about our team names. Teams are named after players on the US Women’s Nation Team (the team that plays in the World Cup and Olympics).
- Identify the first and last name of each player, and identify her NWSL team. (The national team is an all-star team drawing from women who play in the National Women’s Soccer League.)
Fun fact: Both of these players played in the United Quest Athena Academy program back in the early 2000s (before we became NASA).
