Game Day: Saturday, October 24, 2020

We have a 7v7 away game in Dacula (Gwinnett County), and two 5v5 home games against the NTH Buckhead girls at Metro North Park.

Game day notes:

  • Multiple venues:   Girls in the 9:00 game play away at Rabbit Hill Park in Dacula. Girls who play in the later games play at Metro North Park.
  • Uniforms:   Our teams will wear yellow.
    • Bring pink practice vests:  All girls should bring their pink practice vests.
  • Early morning chill:  We’re approaching the time of the season when girls may want to wear a warm-up jacket or pants (link:  cold weather attire). Let’s stop the evil lost & found gremlin in his tracks — please take a moment to use a Sharpie to note your daughter’s initials and uniform numbers on internal tags / labels. (If she has an older item that’s been through several laundry cycles, make sure the ID is still readable.) Or you can have her initials and uniform number embroidered on the warm-ups.
  • No jewelry!  This is worth a weekly reminder, because it can prevent spirit-crushing boo-hoo-hoo moments. Link:  jewelry rule
  • Weekly quiz:  We post a quiz each week below the team assignments. Scroll past the roster table for quiz details.
  • Warm-up captains:  Girls whose names are in bold print with a (C) indicator are warm-up captains. They are responsible for gathering their teammates and helping the coaches start pre-game warm-up. Link:  warm-up ideas

Weekly quiz – receiving a goal kick:

Girls can win a treat after our Wednesday or Thursday practice if they can demonstrate how to properly receive a goal kick (a dead ball restart from our goalkeeper).

Many of our players take their first touch into the space in front of our own goal. This is a needless risk. If positioned properly, a player should be able to receive a goal kick with a soft first touch that pushes the ball forward and provides better attacking options.
